Olivier Giroud played out the 700th match of his career this week and will soon have to decide his plans for the future – Milan or the MLS.
The 37-year-old Frenchman was unable to mark the milestone match with a goal against Stade Rennais in the Europa League on Thursday, but it was still an evening of smiles for the forward, who has continued featuring prominently under Stefano Pioli this term.
Giroud has entered the final six months of his contract with Milan and the temptations of the MLS are nothing new, dating back two years now, but a special bond has been formed between the Frenchman and the Rossoneri in recent years.
Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Giroud and his entourage will sit down with Milan’s management calmy at the end of the season to discuss a possible new deal. The idea is that the two parties will examine all aspects of their work together and any offers received from abroad.
The Rossoneri would like to continue for another year together and are looking to discuss terms. The striker considers them his priority, but the idea of a move to the MLS is extremely tempting, especially considering his desire to move into a backroom role in football after retiring.
