The sleeper hit of the year, Million Dollar Secret, landed on Netflix without much fanfare on March 26. The streaming platform dropped three episodes, then three more on April 2, and the final two episodes on April 9. Fans are hopeful that the success of its inaugural season, which grabbed a few tips from The Traitors and The Trust to create a gripping series that exposed human nature in the quest for a million dollars, will return for another season.
The show's daring challenges, thrilling secret agendas, luxurious locale, cheeky host, and personable cast created an unforgettable first season, and Netflix should capitalize on it and immediately order a season 2. Million Dollar Secret pitted 12 contestants against each other, hoping they'd be the one left holding a box containing a million dollars in the end. Unlike The Traitors, the contestants aren't household names. They're regular people who believe they can play a game so convincing they'll nab the million. In the meantime, alliances are formed, identities are faked, and lies are spread.

After Million Dollar Secret season 1 aired, fans were stunned that favorites like Sam Sepulveda and Sydnee Falkner didn't win the million. Instead, Cara Kies, a sleeper of a player who flew under the radar throughout the entire season, displayed some incredible game-playing, strategically outsmarting the rest of the remaining players and emerging victorious. Cara came out of nowhere, a sweet girl who nobody suspected was capable of the game she played.
But in the end, Cara won it all.

According to Netflix, Million Dollar Secret has been in the top 10 shows for the past two weeks and was a top 10 show in 42 countries over the week. As of this writing, it was ranked No. 9 in the U.S.

They couldn't lie about their jobs or how many siblings they have, which would make it less fun, in my opinion.

I hope Netflix keeps the cast for season 2 as unknowns, or at least widely unknowns. Some of them, like Sydnee, Sam, and Lauren Jean, had small social media followings, which might have gotten them on the producers' radar, but they weren't widely known from movies or TV, so it made them more approachable and easier to root for. I wanted to see someone like Cara, who works at In-N-Out, compete for her chance to win a million more than I want to see someone who already has resources do so.
When Will Million Dollar Secret Season 2 Start Filming?
Season 1 Was Filmed In Late 2024
According to an interview Cara did with Marie Claire, Million Dollar Secret was filmed in May of 2024, which means if there's a season 2, filming could start as soon as next month. Especially after the success of the first season, it's likely the network is making the arrangements to begin filming season 2 right now. If that's the case, we can expect another season of Million Dollar Secret by early 2026.
