Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto brings two iconic ninja franchises together for the first time in a groundbreaking crossover that fans on both sides have been wanting for years, as the TMNT's lore is overhauled to align with the world of Naruto. For instance, New York City is now Big Apple Village to align with Naruto's Hidden Leaf Village, and Splinter even has history with Kakashi that brings the two senseis' respective students together to combat a common threat. This threat, of course, is Shredder, whose backstory as young Oroku Saki was unveiled in the series' second issue.

Master Splinter gets a shinobi redesign in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' crossover with Naruto, and with his new look comes a powerful upgrade.

In this version of the story, Oroku Saki was a ninja who trained under Hamato Yoshi before eventually betraying him to steal the secrets of the Hamato Clan. Now, the Shredder has received a badass redesign that complements his transformation into a proper anime villain. He's historically been the dark nemesis of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but in this upcoming comic, he'll be contending with Naruto. The synopsis for the exciting fourth issue reads as follows:

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Team Seven have defeated the Foot Clan’s mutated forces, but the battle is far from over: Using the power of the ooze, Oroku Saki has abandoned his humanity and transformed himself into the monstrous Shredder. As he seeks revenge against Big Apple Village, it’s up to our heroes to end Shredder’s path of destruction and challenge the cycle of hatred consuming him. The fight you’ve been waiting for is finally here— Naruto vs. Shredder!

While this story is setting up a confrontation between Naruto and Shredder, the TMNT will also be by his side when the time comes to face Oroku Saki.

Thankfully, Naruto won't be alone when the time comes for his showdown with Shredder to commence. The ninja turtles have joined forces with Team Seven in this new joint continuity between the two series, which means these iconic characters can combine their abilities to stand a better chance against the Foot Clan and its terrifying leader. With Naruto's classic Rasengan technique and the turtles' formidable weapons on the opposing side, Shredder will undoubtedly have a major fight on his hands. Naruto's battle with Shredder is sure to be an awesome one, and fans of both Naruto and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles won't want to miss it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto #4 will be available this May from IDW Publishing, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto #3 hits shelves on March 26th, 2025.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) is a multi-media franchise that began with Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s comics in the 1980s. Throughout the years, their comic books expanded to movies, TV shows, video games, and toys. Most notably, the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ran for nearly a decade and has become a nostalgic staple of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Several other movies have featured the four anthropomorphic turtle brothers (Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael), including the trilogy of live-action films in the ‘90s and the more recent movies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
