Victor Osimhen hasn’t returned to Napoli yet after the Africa Cup of Nations, having a delayed journey after his connecting flight was missed.
The 25-year-old striker has missed the Partenopei’s last seven games across Serie A and the Supercoppa Italiana due to AFCON, with his Nigeria going all the way to the final against Ivory Coast, which they painfully lost 2-1 on February 11th.
Osimhen has continued to be a central figure in the Napoli squad this season, despite the team’s various issues, but is still widely expected to be sold in the coming summer transfer window. He recently told the media that he has already decided his next step.
As reported by Il Mattino via TMW, Osimhen was expected to arrive in Napoli on Thursday morning but he didn’t land at the airport. It’s not the striker’s fault, however, as he flew from Nigeria to a European capital before heading to Campania, and a delay saw him miss the connecting flight.
He is expected to arrive in the coming hours but will not join the squad’s training session and is now in serious doubt for the club’s Saturday afternoon clash with Genoa.
