Pardis Saremi Is Just Getting Started — Everything To Know About The Breakout Star Of Death And Other Details

Like many of you, I love a good whodunnit. And if it happens to star the legendary Mandy Patinkin as a savvy detective, well, color me intrigued. The Hulu series Death and Other Detailsis an engaging murder mystery in a similar vein as Rian Johnson’s Knives Out movies and is made up of a talented ensemble cast of characters. The series follows a murder on a cruise ship, which just so happens to have the world-famous detective, Rufus Cotesworth (Patinkin) on board.

Of all the quirkier characters in Death and Other Details, the performer that stood out for me in particular was Pardis Saremi. Besides acting, Saremi is also a model, and once owned her own clothing store, Remi Vintage. She is very active on her Instagram profile, where she posts travel pictures and shares some of her modeling photos. Saremi has been acting since 2017, and her breakout role in Death and Other Details promises that big things are ahead for her.

Pardis Saremi made her first on-screen appearance in the 2017 rom-com Literally, Right Before Aaron. The movie was directed and written by actor Ryan Eggold, and also stars recognizable faces like Justin Long, Cobie Smouders, Peter Gallagher, Kristen Schaal, and John Cho. Saremi then had a small role as a receptionist in the TV movie The Pom Pom Murders in 2020, and later appeared in the pandemic web series The Baddest Bad Boy.

In 2023, Saremi co-starred in the horror comedy Hell of a Summer, which was co-written and co-directed by Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard, who also stars in the film. In an interview with The Hip Hop Democrat, Saremi spoke about her experience on the movie, saying, “It was so much fun and so different. It was like a campy kind of horror comedy. Much more tailored to like a young Gen-Z audience and I had so much fun with that.”

Saremi’s next project was the 2024 Tubi mystery thriller Chapel, in which she co-starred with Jeremy Sumpter. Sumpter plays Ethan, a man who wakes from a coma with no memory, and Saremi’s character, Sofia, is the nurse trying to help him.

In Death and Other Details, Pardis Saremi plays Leila Collier, the wife of Anna Collier (Lauren Patten), who is the heiress of a wealthy family. Formerly a journalist, Leila was traumatized years ago while she was investigating the blackmailer Victor Sams. After a clandestine meeting with one of Sams’s blackmail victims, Leila’s car was taken over remotely and crashed. Since then, she has been extremely paranoid that someone is watching her.

Death and Other Details may have taken on more than it should, but for what it is worth, the show is entertaining and enthralling.

During the investigation aboard the cruise ship, Leila admits to having a confrontation with the victim, Keith Trubitsky (Michael Gladis). She later reveals her connection to the mysterious Victor Sams to Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin), and aids him and Imogene in finding the killer. By the end of season 1, the true killer's identity is revealed, and Leila decides to leave her cheating wife, Anna. Months later, Leila joins her former cruise ship members at a resort, where yet another murder victim is discovered.

In the 2024 interview with Hip Hop Democrat, Saremi shared how well the cast and crew of Death and Other Details got along while making the series.

“I think we all got along just great. We were all just, honestly, it felt like a group of friends getting together to shoot something. We all hit it off really quickly. There’s just something about being away from home all together and you just connect really quickly. Whenever we weren’t filming, the rest of us were just sort of hanging out. It was such a fun time. It was great and we are all still close and keep in touch.”

Saremi Is In Finn Wolfhard's Movie Set To Release In April 2025

The season 1 cliffhanger of Death and Other Details will forever be a mystery. Sadly, season 2 will not be happening since Death and Other Details was canceled by Hulu. However, it’s likely that won’t be the last we see of Pardis Saremi, given that her performance on the series was so well done.

While there’s no official word about any upcoming projects for Pardis Saremi at the moment, fans of the actor can keep up with her on her Instagram page. There’s also the release of Hell of a Summer to look forward to, which will be distributed by the indie studio Neon on April 4, 2025.
