Phineas & Ferb Revival Trailer Confirms Release Date On Disney Channel

A new trailer has been revealed for the Phineas and Ferb revival series, along with the announcement of a release date. Phineas and Ferb was an animated TV series that originally ran on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2015. Boasting over 100 episodes, the series follows a pair of step-brothers who make unique inventions while trying to keep them a secret from their older sister, Candace. It was announced in January 2023 that 40 new episodes of Phineas and Ferb had been ordered, which would be spread across two seasons.

Now, Disney+ has revealed a new trailer for the Phineas and Ferb revival. Dr. Doofenshmirtz says "long time no see." Text then reads "104 More Days of Summer Vacation," referencing the show's iconic theme song. The titular characters are back to making inventions, including a "submarine sandwich submarine," and Candace wants to bust them once again. Doofenshmirtz is back to his evil ways, this time announcing his descent into villainy through social media. Phineas and Ferb will release on Disney Channel starting on June 5, with episodes coming to Disney+ the following day.

What This Means For Phineas And Ferb Season 5

While there are some modernized elements to the series, such as Doofenshmirtz's social media takeover, this Phineas and Ferb trailer stays true to the original show. Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, and their friends are all back to their same antics. Conflict-wise, it features familiar beats, showing Perry the Platypus hunting down the Doofenshmirtz and Candace consistently ratting out her younger brothers. The end of the trailer even features a reference to the "musical dance sequence," with the characters breaking into song at the end of the trailer.

Phineas and Ferb's several episodes that are parodies or spoofs of popular materials are some of the best because of their referential humor.

The announcement also reveals that the show will restore its previous release format. The first four seasons of Phineas and Ferb were released before Disney+'s launch, so they were released on Disney Channel. The revived series will once again give cable subscribers priority, making the series available on Disney Channel a day before it hits Disney+. Even this format is a nostalgic way to re-introduce Phineas and Ferb to new audiences.

Our Take On The Phineas And Ferb Trailer

The Season Is Making The Right Call

I think that Phineas and Ferb season 5 is making the right call by adhering so closely to the original series. With one of Disney's most recent revival shows, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the network decided to spend a lot of time focusing on characters from the original series. While this holds its own merit, Phineas and Ferb will truly stick to its roots as a children's show. Gen Zs who grew up with the show, like myself, may still tune into the series, but with its characters still young and up to their same antics, it can draw newfound interest from younger people.
