Sacked

Men’s handbags have taken a lot of flack—remember “murses”? But the accessory can be both stylish and masculine. Just look to Borlino, which launched locally this past fall. Owner and creator Darrell Ratliff, an artist and 3-D animation executive, designed his first bag when he was unable to find one that both suited his style and had room for all his stuff. Ratliff’s line of Italian-crafted leather messengers, satchels, and weekenders is admired by both sexes for its rugged look and thoughtful craftsmanship. The roomy carryalls are designed from the inside out: Interiors feature zipper pockets and leather compartments for stashing everyday essentials. The exteriors are rendered in vachetta and buffalo—a nod to Colorado’s Western heritage. The quality materials are reflected in the price (bags start at $1,500), but Ratliff makes them a worthy investment: Borlino products are guaranteed for life and can be reconditioned upon request. Look for a gym duffle, a backpack, and wheeled luggage this spring.
