Sean Bean's New Robin Hood Series Casts 6 Characters, Including Marian, Little John & Friar Tuck
Sean Bean's upcoming Robin Hood TV show has just cast its female lead role of Marian. The show will be a modern retelling of the classic folk tale, following the Norman invasion of England and the love story between Rob and Marian. It has been described as a sweeping and contemporary take, filled with historical authenticity and psychological depth. Bean will play the Sheriff of Nottingham, while Jack Patten will portray the lead role, Rob.
Per Deadline, actor Lauren McQueen has been cast as the female lead in the show opposite Patten. Lydia Peckham, Steve Waddington, Marcus Fraser, Angus Castle-Doughty, and Henry Rowley also round out the main cast. John Glenn will serve as showrunner and is set to executive produce alongside director Jonathan English, Lionsgate Television, and Hidden Pictures. The cast list for Robin Hood boasts many strong British actors, and this will help capture the English spirit of the series. McQueen is best known for her two-year stint as Lily Drinkwell in British soap Hollyoaks. Her casting as Marian comes right off the back of her wrapped filming on the Starz prequel show Outlander: Blood of My Blood, and she also appeared in projects including Belgravia: The Next Chapter, Masters of the Air, and the Robert Zemeckis feature film Here.

It is about time a strong Robin Hood adaptation was produced, and this version has all the ingredients in place to be a success. The strong British cast will be key to this retelling and could result in Robin Hood getting a multi-season run.
