Head coach of the Italy national football team Luciano Spalletti is due to attend Saturday’s headline fixture between Roma and table-topping Inter for a closer look at some of his international players ahead of friendlies against Venezuela and Ecuador in March.
Between Inter and Roma, Spalletti will have around 10 established, senior players to consider for his Italy squad.
Four of them are practically guaranteed to make the cut for the Euro 2024 squad in Germany, all of whom are defenders from the Nerazzurri camp according to La Gazzetta dello Sport and TMW. Those are Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian and Federico Dimarco.
Nicolo Barella and Davide Frattesi are also near-certainties to be included in the Euros squad this summer, although the latter is likely to miss Saturday’s match against Roma.
Three Roma players are also already in line for a call-up in the summer, namely Gianluca Mancini, Bryan Cristante and Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Stephan El Shaarawy was also selected by Spalletti for Italy’s most recent fixtures against North Macedonia and Ukraine in November.
Leonardo Spinazzola will also be hoping for a place in the travelling squad in the summer, although Angelino looks set to take his place at left-back against Inter this evening.
