Italy coach Luciano Spalletti arrived at Appiano Gentile to wish Nicolo Barella a happy birthday and meet with the Italian players in Simone Inzaghi’s squad.
The 64-year-old Italian coach is gearing up for his first major challenge in charge of the Nerazzurri, the coming European Championships in Germany. Italy will face Spain, Croatia and Albania in Group B, a tough start for the defending champions.
Spalletti is now keeping a close eye on countless Italian players across Serie A and Europe, trying to decide his perfect Azzurri squad for Euro 2024. He has already been spotted at numerous stadiums across Italy over the last few months.
La Gazzetta dello Sport details how Spalletti turned up at Appiano Gentile today to watch Inzaghi’s training session with the Inter squad, greeting all the players in the squad, including those who could be part of his Italy squad at Euro 2024.
The Azzurri coach also chatted with Barella, wishing him a happy 27th birthday. He also spoke to Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Matteo Darmian and Davide Frattesi.
