The Agency Season 2 Gets Positive Filming Update From EP: "I'm Very Excited By The Scripts"

The Agency season 2 has received a positive filming update from executive producer Joe Wright, who says he's "very excited" for what's to come. The Agency season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger, with Martian (Michael Fassbender) pledging his allegiance to MI6 official Jim Richardson (Hugh Bonneville) in order to save Samia (Jodie Turner-Smith). While he helps Operation Felix succeed and identifies Coyote, he's now in the pocket of an untrustworthy adversary who wants him to deliver CIA secrets. Season 2 is expected to follow this development and what it means for his story arc moving forward.

Speaking with ScreenRant about Pride & Prejudice's20th anniversary theatrical re-release on April 20, Wright revealed The Agency season 2 is scheduled to start filming at the end of April. The executive producer explained his excitement for the episodes ahead, while remaining tight-lipped about the exact details. He praised the cast and overall expressed positivity about the series' future. Check out what Wright had to say below:

I think season 2 starts shooting at the end of this month, and I'm very excited by the scripts. The cast are great, and it's gratifying to see that it's having this life. It's great.

The Show Is Getting Even Closer To Coming Back

The Agency season 2 was confirmed in December 2024, prior to the end of season 1. The show has become a popular staple for Paramount+ with Showtime, while also getting generally positive reviews. Wright's filming update is indicative of just how much the series is being prioritized, as the show is already gearing up to film its next batch of episodes three months after the season 1 finale. This could also be a good sign the show is going to return sooner rather than later, given how quickly filming is approaching.

Season 1 was filmed in 2024, taking place in London and Estonia. Production was complete by September 2024, with the show releasing its first two episodes at the end of November that same year. This closeness between the series' release and production means season 2 could come out in 2025, depending on how long filming lasts. Since the cast of The Agency includes talent like Fassbender, Turner-Smith, and Jeffrey Wright, the show will have plenty of draw to it no matter when season 2 arrives.
