The Bachelor: Did Grant Ellis Play The Victim All Season Long? (He's Engaged To Juliana But His Onscreen Actions Told A Shady Story)

Grant Ellis ended The Bachelor season 29 on a high note with his engagement to Juliana Pasquarosa, but he frequently played the victim during the dramatic season. During the finale, The Bachelor season 29 cast member Litia Garr accused Grant of leading her on, an understandable complaint given the reassurance he gave Litia throughout the journey. Grant struggled to remain honest during his time as the lead on The Bachelor and didn't always take accountability for his actions.

Grant became the lead of The Bachelor after his fifth-place finish on Jenn Tran's season of The Bachelorette. His quest for love was not smooth, although journeys on the ABC dating show rarely are. Grant took a lot of heat from fans and cast members during his time as the lead, but his victim act didn't make sense.

Grant Let Rose Slip Away

He Couldn't Admit That He Was Wrong

A major source of drama this season came from a misunderstanding involving Grant, Carolina Sofia Quixano, and The Bachelor's Rose Sombe. In an off-camera conversation, Rose confided in Carolina, saying Grant had been thinking about Rose while dancing with Carolina during the previous group date. Carolina was upset and confused by this information and confronted Grant. Grant got angry that he was being misrepresented and lashed out at Rose, denying he ever said those things. What he had told Rose was:

“I’m not going to sit here and lie. You’re somebody that I do think about. I just want to make sure that you know that because I’m very interested in you. Like even today, right? The whole dancing thing onstage and everything, I was thinking about you. I don’t want you to feel like I’m not paying attention, because I am.”

Rose may have misunderstood what Grant meant, but he hadn't been clear. Instead of getting angry with Rose, Grant should have realized his mistake and clarified what he meant. Instead, he created unnecessary tension between him and a woman with whom he had an instant connection.

Rose Sombke Should Be The Next Bachelorette (Don't Count Her Out After Her Short Run On The Show)

Rose Sombke proved she was on ABC's The Bachelor for the right reasons and should be given a second chance at love by leading The Bachelorette.

Rose self-eliminated the following week after the drama with Carolina escalated. Grant hadn't stood up for her or taken accountability for his role in the drama, and Rose was right to remove herself from the toxic situation. To top it off, Grant decided not to encourage Rose to remain on the journey, letting her leave without much of a fight. Grant acted like the situation wasn't his fault when it largely was.

Grant Kept Telling Everyone He Loved Them

He Couldn't Make A Decision

One of the biggest criticisms of Grant's time as the lead of The Bachelor was his looseness with three important words: "I love you."Grant told Litia and Juliana he loved them, leading both to believe they would be proposed to at the final rose ceremony, even though Grant could only choose one. Litia was extremely hurt when she found out she would not be leaving the show with Grant, and she had good reason to feel upset.

Grant not only told Litia he loved her, he spent almost the entire season telling Litia he would be choosing her in the end. Litia called Grant out for his actions during the final episode, and while he apologized and tried to take accountability, his words fell flat. He messed up and hurt Litia.

Are Grant Ellis & Juliana Pasquarosa Still Together?

They Got Engaged On The Show

Grant and Juliana are still together following their engagement during The Bachelor's finale. They have yet to start wedding planning, but Grant hopes to move to Boston soon to be with Juliana and begin their lives together. During the "After The Final Rose" episode, Juliana and Grant seemed to be in love.

The Bachelor couples rarely last, but Grant and Juliana could be the exception.

The Bachelor has a notoriously low success rate, with very few couples making it to their wedding day. Often, couples break up before the season finishes airing, as was the case with first-impression rose recipient Hannah Ann Sluss and the lead that season, Peter Weber. However, as Grant and Juliana have made it this far, they can go the distance.

The Bachelor is available to stream on Hulu.
