Joey proposed to Kelsey at the end of The Bachelor season 28, and she happily accepted. Since then, they've moved to a new home in Los Angeles, from which they were recently evacuated due to the fires. Although Kelsey and Joey have been very happy together and are planning to get married in 2026 or 2027, they've been the subject of breakup rumors, and Kelsey removing her engagement ring has started them again.

I'm scared! What the heck?!" She then explained, "I'm joking. I'm just not wearing it. And you know what that means? It means I'm still engaged 'cause it's literally just a symbol. Um, I don't just all of a sudden, like, I take it off, not engaged, [put it on] engaged, [take it off] engaged."

Kelsey then revealed the real reason that she's not wearing her engagement ring. She said, "No, I realized that it causes excess wear and tear whenever I wear it. Like whenever I work out. You know, I just wear it all the time."

Kelsey continued, "So I've been trying to practice taking care of it better, and putting it away whenever I get home or whenever I'm working out. Because I've kind of warped it a little bit. I have to go get it fixed because one of the diamonds fell out because of how I was taking care of it before. So, now I'm trying to be more responsible."

Kelsey then brought up the double standard that exists in relationships when it comes to engaged couples. She pointed out, "But, like, Joey's walking around without an engagement ring, and y'all don't say anything to him. It's 'cause I'm a woman. Hmmmm. Wow. That's real nice. No." Kelsey concluded by acknowledging that she and Joey are famous, so people will want to know about their relationship, but everything is okay between them. She said, "But yeah, I know I'm in a public relationship and that's why people are like, 'What?' But, yeah, all good in the hood over here."

Fans thought that the show was putting a strain on Kelsey and Joey's relationship, but, from what Kelsey's saying, nothing could be further from the truth.

Kelsey is right that, as a woman, she has the added pressure of wearing the engagement ring in the relationship. Because Joey doesn't have a ring, he doesn't have to answer questions about why he's not wearing it. Even though Kelsey seems to be a bit bothered by the questions, it's good that she acknowledged that she's in a public relationship that people are invested in. However, it must be exhausting for her to have to constantly prove that there are no problems between her and Joey.

Kelsey and Joey have handled being in a relationship in the public eye very well after The Bachelor season 28. They're one of the most solid Bachelor Nation couples, and their engagement has the potential to last and lead to marriage.
