The Bachelor Season 29: I'm Convinced Grant Ellis Is Struggling To Form Real Connections Due To Producer Interference (He Might End Up Alone)

The Bachelor season 29 producers appear to be creating roadblocks that leave Grant Ellis’ search for love struggling to get off the ground. Grant first appeared in Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette, where he was eliminated before hometowns. Grant is now a day trader in Houston, Texas, after ending his career as a professional basketball player. His sweet, thoughtful disposition made him a promising choice for the next Bachelor. However, his fear of loneliness may make him desperate to find a match, creating an unbearable amount of pressure.

Grant’s season began with high drama between the women.Zoe McGrady was labeled a villain early on after monopolizing Grant’s time, and she later broke down because she felt insecure about how she stacked up to the other women. Similarly, Carolina Quixano stole the show at prom despite already having received her rose, and her habit of repeatedly stealing the spotlight doesn’t sit well with the other women. I believe producers are interfering with Grant’s ability to tame the chaos because of the drama it creates. As a result, Grant has yet to establish close bonds with any of the women.

Grant & Sarafiena's Bond Was Situational & Producer Created

Their Bungee Jumping Date Created An Artificial Connection

The Bachelor season 29 lead Grant finally seemed to find his stride during his solo outing with Sarafiena Watkins. Sarafiena had taken a backseat early in the competition, and she grew concerned after consistently being passed over for a one-on-one date. She and Grant never had a strong connection, and I believe they seemed incompatible. But Sarafiena finally got her turn to spend time alone with Grant in Madrid, which transformed their relationship.

Sarafiena and Grant faced the nerve-racking task of bungee jumping off a bridge. To Grant’s relief, Sarafiena was calm in the face of his anxiety. He and Sarafiena jumped off the bridge together, and she offered him constant reassurance. The date brought them much closer, leading them to believe they were falling in love. However, I’m sure their connection never would have blossomed without the interference of producers.

A week prior, Grant had bungee-jumped off a Las Vegas building during his date with Carolina. In contrast to his date with Sarafiena, Grant and Carolina were terrified, and neither could offer the other support. I’m convinced producers intentionally structured two similar dates to show the contrast between Sarafiena and Carolina’s personalities. The timing isn’t coincidental, as Carolina’s selfish antics continued to turn the women against her and made Sarafiena look even better in comparison. Grant and Sarafiena had a great date, but the situation created the illusion of a connection that wasn’t genuine.

Grant Doesn't Seem Head-Over-Heels For Any Of The Women

Are Producers Holding Him Back?

At this point in the competition, Grant doesn’t have a clear front-runner. He often speaks about “developing feelings,” but his connections with the women don’t necessarily seem to be growing. Despite Jesse Palmer telling Grant in week 4 that this was “the week when things really get real,” I’m worried about his lack of intense feelings for any of the women, and I’m positive producers are holding him back.

His fear of loneliness might make him afraid to give any of the women negative feedback, and I believe producers encourage him to keep the contestants who bring drama.

Grant’s dates all follow the same pattern, where he claims he’s developing feelings and ends the night with a rose. It’s wonderful that Grant’s dates all go well, but that doesn’t help his job of narrowing down the competition. His fear of loneliness might make him afraid to give any of the women negative feedback, and I believe producers encourage him to keep the contestants who bring drama.

Grant surprised viewers by giving Rose Sombke a rose, even after learning she had spread lies to contestant Juliana Pasquarosa.Even worse, Juliana informed Grant that Carolina had been talking negatively about him, but despite his hurt feelings, he still didn’t eliminate Carolina. I’m convinced producers are dictating the direction of the show instead of Grant’s heart. They want him to keep tensions high, but their interference may be holding him back and preventing him from building lasting relationships.

I Don't Think Grant Will Leave The Show Engaged

He’s Too Indecisive

Grant’s lack of genuine connections makes me worried that he won’t find love before the end of the competition. His indecision in the trailer suggests Grant may continue to mull over his final choice until the last minute. Even if Grant does get engaged, I’m positive his lingering doubts will make him second-guess his decision, and the engagement may end soon after the final rose ceremony.

I’m convinced Grant’s kindness makes him an easy target for producer manipulation. He wants to find love but he’s also committed to keeping the women and producers happy. Ultimately, Grant joined The Bachelor in search of a wife. He needs to start making difficult choices if he intends to establish a connection strong enough to last a lifetime.

The Bachelor airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
