The Bad Batch Has a New Villain, And They Share a Major Connection to The Mandalorian
As Star Warsfan-favoritesthe Bad Batch take on their latest mission at the height of the Clone Wars, they come across a new roadblock in the form of the bounty hunter Embo. It just so happens that Embo is the rumored villain of the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu film, coming in 2026, drawing a connection between the squad of mutated clones, and the franchise's star bounty hunter.
In Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories - The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents (2025) #1– written by Michael Moreci, with art by Reese Hannigan – the Bad Batch are tasked with hunting down a list of the Republic's "Ghost Agents," spies operating within the Seperatists' ranks.
Of course, it turns out, the Bad Batch are not the only ones going after the valuable list. Famed bounty hunter Embo gets in the Batch's way and puts up quite a fight, eventually coming out on top and getting on the shuttle with the list thief, though the squad quickly devises a plan to get it back.
Embo Proves To Be A Formidable Foe For The Bad Batch, Ahead Of His Potential Live-Action Debut

Embo was a bounty hunter from the Clone Wars, to the Battle of Jakku, and beyond. When thinking of bounty hunters, Embo was one of the deadliest and most skilled in the galaxy. Embo was one of the few survivors of The Box, a series of death challenges assigned by Count Dooku with the purpose of discerning the most capable bounty hunters for his mission. Embo has also held his own against Anakin Skywalker, and survived a fight against Darth Maul and his brother Savage Opress, even though he didn't win, that's still saying something.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Is Back, And Now the Team Is Linking Up With an Iconic Jedi
A new Star Wars comic reveals that notorious clone squad the Bad Batch reported directly to a high-ranking member of the Jedi Council during the war.
The Bad Batch has already lost a fight with Embo, and even though the Bad Batch is probably capable of taking Embo down, it's going to be quite the challenge. Embo is a master tracker, especially when working alongside his pet anooba called Marrok, so as long as Embo retains the element of surprise, the Bad Batch won't stand a chance against him. The fact that Embo sneak attacked the Batch is the reason he was able to get the drop on them. It will be the Batch's superior plans and tactics that will give them the upper hand against Embo.
Embo Thrived During & After The Empire's Reign, And Is About To Be Trouble For The Mandalorian
What's Next For The Infamous Bounty Hunter
Embo continued to operate as a bounty hunter long after the Clone Wars and even past the Battle of Jakku. He was still popular enough during the time of the Empire, that Embo was depicted in the art of Sabine Wren aboard The Ghost. During the Battle of Jakku, Embo joins the crew of Jas Emari, the niece of Embo's former crew mate Sugi. Embo and Emari's crew all received pardons from the New Republic for helping take down the Empire, and enough money to retire and settle on Felucia as a farmer in 9 ABY.
As the rumored villain of The Mandalorian & Grogu, what will bring Embo out of retirement remains to be determined.
9 ABY is the same time period that The Mandalorian takes place, and a perfect spot to continue Embo's story. As the rumored villain of The Mandalorian & Grogu, what will bring Embo out of retirement remains to be determined. Embo is older than he was in the Clone War, of course, but that doesn't mean he has lost any of his skill. It will be interesting to witness a classic Clone Wars bounty hunter go up against Star Wars' newest star bounty hunter.
