It will also allegedly contain murder mystery elements, making it vastly different from most other shows set in The Boys universe, but it's Vought Rising's prequel status that is undoubtedly its biggest advantage.

While Gen V does possess a mostly self-contained story, the inclusion of Homelander, Victoria Neuman, and several other big characters means it has to avoid making any drastic decisions that would have a knock-on effect on The Boys.

Sure, it has a license to get creative and won't have to worry much about The Boys' ongoing story, but it can't retcon things that will impact the present timeline. For example, the spinoff could add more depth to Soldier Boy's origins and perhaps offer a new perspective on his past, but it can't kill him or Stormfront off, considering they were both still alive decades later. The same applies to the fate of Vought International.
