The First Berserker: Khazan

After taking down the Blade Phantom and clearing the Stormpass area for the first time in The First Berserker: Khazan, you can pick up your first bonus mission to take on Keshta the Unyielding. There are quite a few bonus missions throughout The First Berserker: Khazan, each with their own final boss fights that are considered secondary bosses. Keshta the Unyielding is a relatively straightforward enemy that is much easier after you've leveled up a bit, but in my opinion, taking him out before moving on to the main mission bosses has its advantages.

The Stormpass Phantom of Combat mission will be available upon entering the Crevice for the first time after beating Blade Phantom and becoming allies. You will be able to travel to a new Nexus point called Tempest Cliff at the top of the Stormpass mountains, where Quimik will be waiting to tell you more about the ghost in the arena ahead. You can return to take on Keshta the Unyielding at any point in the future, so if you are struggling to defeat him, consider leveling up more or respeccing around a new weapon type.

How To Defeat Keshta The Unyielding In First Berserker: Khazan

Watch Out For His Spear Throws & Hammer Smash

Keshta the Unyielding is a relatively straightforward boss in The First Berserker, but he can be difficult to defeat without understanding his moves, especially if you aren't leveled up very much. He only has a handful of core moves, but guarding and dodging these can be a challenge. The first big move he's likely to employ is a hammer smash attack that sends phantom spikes shooting out in a star pattern around him. You can dodge these easily, but make sure to align your dodge to avoid the spike pattern.

The First Berserker: Khazan - How To Beat Viper (Boss Guide)

Viper is among the first bosses you'll face in The First Berserker: Khazan. He has two stages that are very difficult to beat.

He also has a set of claw-swiping moves that can be brink guarded, though the timing is tricky. Further, he leaps into the air to charge up a spear throw, which you should dodge before immediately running away to avoid the phantom spike AoE. The big one to look for is an unblockable move where he charges up his open hand and grabs you by the throat, draining significant damage. You'll have to brink dodge this, as it cannot be guarded against, but afterward, you can hit him with one of Khazan's various spirit skills for some major damage.

"The easiest way to defeat Keshta is to dodge or guard against his slower attacks and use every opportunity to deal him damage in between bigger moves."

Outside these major attacks, he will have some leaping sword and spear attacks that can be guarded easily compared to his other moves. Keshta can also teleport and has certain moves where he vanishes and reappears in a different location with a quick follow-up attack. Overall, the easiest way to defeat Keshta is to dodge or guard against his slower attacks and use every opportunity to deal him damage in between bigger moves.

Rewards For Defeating Keshta The Unyielding

Keshta Becomes Available As A Spirit Of Advocacy For Future Fights

Once you defeat Keshta the Unyielding, you'll be rewarded with a nice chunk of Gold and Lacrima, as well as some decent loot. He drops two random pieces from the Soul Eater Set, typically including the Soul Eater weapon corresponding to the one you defeated him with. For example, I beat him with a spear and was awarded the Soul Piercer Spear as a result. The Soul Eater Set unlocks Phantom Judgement when fully equipped, which would otherwise take to level 34 Mastery. This skill functions differently with each weapon, but the effect is always a series of phantom attacks.

Upgrading the right stats early in The First Berserker: Khazan requires a little understanding of how the weapon scaling works, but they can be reset.

You will also be rewarded with a random accessory and three Transmutation Mists. More significantly, you'll now be able to access Keshta the Unyielding in the Phantom menu and summon him as a Spirit of Advocacy during boss fights in the future. Overall, the fight with Keshta the Unyielding is not too difficult by comparison to some of the main bosses in The First Berserker: Khazan, and you should be able to defeat him in just a few tries if you are well above the recommended level for the mission.
