The Handmaid's Tale Season 6 Trailer Reveals June's Army Of Handmaids & More Rebellion In Gilead
The official trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 has been unveiled. Based on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel, the hit Hulu series has been a gripping and politically charged drama since its 2017 debut. The Handmaid's Tale follows June (Elisabeth Moss) as she resists the oppressive regime of Gilead, a totalitarian society of the near-future that enslaves women as childbearing handmaids. Over five seasons, the show has received 15 Emmy Awards. For its final chapter, The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 is set to premiere on April 8.
Now, Hulu has released a new trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale season 6, showcasing June preparing her army of handmaids for war against Gilead. At one point, June declares, "The dress became our uniform. And we became an army," as the regime's veiled victims become its greatest threat. Alongside glimpses of Moira (Samira Wiley), Luke (O-T Fagbenle), and Nick (Max Minghella), the trailer teases a climactic showdown as the fight for freedom reaches its peak. Watch the video below:
What The Handmaid's Tale Season 6 Trailer Means
Gilead Is Reaching Its Breaking Point
With June’s army of handmaids forming a full-fledged rebellion, The Handmaid’s Tale's final chapter is set for a war that extends beyond their small acts of defiance. After a culmination of suffering and planning, June and her allies appear ready to take their fight directly to Gilead’s leadership. The ending of Handmaid's Tale season 5 brought June and Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) together on the same train out of Toronto, suggesting the beginning of an unlikely alliance.
While June is nearing her curtain call, the Handmaid’s Tale franchise is set to continue with an upcoming adaptation of Atwood’s sequel novel The Testaments. 15 years after the events of the original show, the follow-up series is expected to focus on another group of women in Gilead, with Ann Dowd reprising her role as Aunt Lydia. Significant updates on The Testaments may not arrive until after season 6 concludes, making 2026 a significant year for the future of The Handmaid’s Tale universe.
Our Take On The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Trailer
A Fittingly Epic Conclusion
The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 is shaping up to be a powerful and (unfortunately) culturally relevant finale. With concerns mounting under a second Trump administration, and many experiencing the erosion of democratic rights and norms, The Handmaid’s Taleremains an urgent and unsettling cautionary tale of totalitarianism. The defiant handmaids of Gilead will surely endure far beyond the series' end in 2025, leaving behind a legacy that feels both timely and unforgettable.
