The Karate Kid & Cobra Kai Power Scale Is About To Get A Lot More Complicated

Thanks to Karate Kid: Legends, the power scaling of the Karate Kid universe will only get more complex when linking to Cobra Kai. Now that Cobra Kai season 6's ending has come and gone, attention is turning to the next major installment in the franchise. The cast of Karate Kid: Legendswill unite the star of the original trilogy and Cobra Kai, Daniel LaRusso, with the Miyagi-like figure of 2010's The Karate Kid reboot, Mr. Han.

Beyond LaRusso and Mr. Han, however, Karate Kid: Legends will introduce a new character. This character is Li Fong, played by Ben Wang, who will seemingly be the central focus of the next generation of fighters in the franchise. This somewhat connects Karate Kid: Legends to Cobra Kai by following the tried-and-tested formula of the older generation teaching younger kids how to fight. Via this exact story for Karate Kid: Legends, though, the power scaling of the universe when taking Cobra Kai into account will be made even more difficult.

Li Fong Will Face Comparisons To Franchise Mainstays

The power scaling problem in question will arise via Li Fong's introduction to the Karate Kid universe. The trailer for Karate Kid: Legends makes Li Fong seem like an incredibly strong fighter, which makes sense given his training at the hands of Jackie Chan's Mr. Han. Naturally, though, many watching Karate Kid: Legends will want to know how Li compares as a fighter to other characters in their prime from the original trilogy or the strongest fighters in Cobra Kai.

With Cobra Kai at a definitive close, the time has come to officially rank the various characters by power - so where do they all stand in the end?

Power scaling has always been a fun element to engage in where big franchises are concerned, and this will undoubtedly continue with Karate Kid: Legends. However, most of Cobra Kai's characters are not expected to be part of the 2025 film, meaning audiences will not be able to get a definitive answer on whether Li could hold his own against the likes of Miguel, Robby, Hawk, Tory, or Samantha. Unfortunately, this makes the Karate Kid universe's power scaling a lot more complicated than it already was.

Cobra Kai’s Power Scale Was Always Tricky (Because Of The Show’s Inconsistency)

Cobra Kai's Power Scaling Was Never Linear

Although the power scaling of the franchise after Karate Kid: Legends will be complicated, this is somewhat comforting given that it has always been so. This is mainly due to Cobra Kai's inconsistency. It is worth noting that the word inconsistency is not used as a negative, but instead as a way of praising how Cobra Kai kept its characters - and their skills - realistic.

In some seasons, one character was shown as being a stronger fighter than another. This would then change the next season, with characters ebbing and flowing over the course of the show's six-season story. Every majorcharacter had their moments to shine, making it difficult to truly define who is the strongest. This is only set to continue with Karate Kid: Legends' new characters, made more complex by their inability to face off against Cobra Kai's best karate champions.
