The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Filming Begins, Season 3 Cliffhanger’s Fallout Previewed By Co-Showrunner: “In The First Episode You’ll Understand…”

Netflix's hit legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer has officially begun production for its fourth season. Adapted from the books of Michael Connelly, the series follows defense attorney Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) who runs his practice out of a Lincoln Navigator in Los Angeles. The finale of The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 concluded with a shocking twist: Mickey is arrested after police discover the body of his former client, Sam Scales, in the trunk of his car. While Netflix swiftly renewed the series, it remains unknown when The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 will officially air on the streaming platform.

Nonetheless, Netflix has confirmed that The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 has started filming in Los Angeles. Set to adapt Connelly's The Law of Innocence, the highly anticipated next chapter of the drama will see the titular attorney fighting for his own innocence from the stand. It is likely that the ten-episode run of The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 will be released in late 2025.

Speaking to Netflix's Tudum from set, co-showrunner Ted Humphrey also set up how the show will approach season 3's cliffhanger ending:

Well, the biggest cliff-hanger of all is ‘What is going to happen to Mickey?’ and that one certainly plays out across the whole season in the form of his trial. But in the first episode you’ll understand at least the broad strokes of what specifically has happened and what charges — and adversaries — Mickey is facing. This is going to be the biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on. And of course, our other characters will be dealing not only with Mickey’s case but with a slew of challenges they’re facing as well.
As a director, I was so happy with how the third season finale turned out, and I am also directing the opener of Season 4 so it feels like we are picking up right where we left off, which is really fun for me and also creatively very satisfying.

In Michael Connelly's sixth book, the attorney spends most of the novel building his case and trying to find who framed him. For the Netflix adaptation, Lorna (Becki Newton), who is now a licensed attorney, will likely assist Mickey while he's in jail.
