Initially, the two detectives are sure about who they think ended Johan’s life, but as more evidence comes in, they have to re-examine what they thought was true. Hanna and Daniel eventually deduce that Johan's murderer is closer to home than they initially thought by the end of the Netflix non-English show.

Amanda's Killer Was Someone Who Was Threatened By Her

Hanna and Daniel follow several leads, including questioning Ebba, Amanda's best friend, and Fredrik Borge, a man who had good reason to hate Amanda's father. Do Hanna And Daniel End Up Together In The Åre Murders' Finale
Hanna And Daniel Remained Close Friends And Colleagues
Following her decision to remain on the Åre police force, Hanna and Daniel begin to grow closer as they spend more time together. Daniel and his partner, Ida, were going through a tough time in their relationship because of how he prioritized work over his family. Hanna, on the other hand, is left as lonely as ever with no friends or lover.
The two share a tender moment, but nothing more comes out of it. By the conclusion of the Netflix detective series, Daniel and Ida make up, and he makes it a point to spend more time with his family and less time working. However, given that the detectives will be working together and the tension between Ida and Daniel might arise, there's still a chance that Daniel might end up falling for Hanna.
What The Åre Murders' Ending Really Means
There Might Be Room For The Åre Murders Season 2
The Åre Murders ends with Daniel and Hanna arresting the two murderers. Because of this, the crime drama left no stone unturned. Both Hanna and Daniel seemed happy with where they were by the show's conclusion, so there's nothing more to explore there. However, it's worth noting that it's still possible for there to be a second season of the show. Hanna and Daniel have a great buddy-cop dynamic that audiences would enjoy.
The Åre Murders could continue with more cases for the detectives, especially now that Swedish crime dramas are becoming so popular on Netflix. Since there are other books in the Åremorden, The Åre Murderscould easily continue for more seasons, either with proper sequels to season 1 or as an anthology. Considering how season 1 was able to combine two books into one story, the show has plenty of options for its next story if is renewed for season 2.
