This Crazy WWE Theory Makes So Much Sense It May Actually Turn WrestleMania 41 Upside Down

In recent months, one of WWE's biggest success stories has been the rise of Jey Uso. The legendary tag team performer—part of the most decorated tandem in the promotion's history alongside his twin brother, Jimmy—will face his biggest challenge yet. The Samoan superstar will try to topple the seemingly unbeatable World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, at WrestleMania 41.

The odds are stacked against Uso, and he's clearly the underdog heading into this encounter. Meanwhile, Gunther has been a dominant titleholder, who has been positioned by the company as one of the cornerstones of World Wrestling Entertainment's future. On the other side of the equation, Jey is a guy who has beaten the odds many times, and his main event match-up is his 'Rocky Balboa' moment.

Perhaps this story unfolds like a Hollywood movie, and Uso thrills the audience with an upset victory. But a recent theory put forward suggests a more sinister script may have already been written, one that involves WWE's main storyline at the moment, John Cena's heel turn, and ties Jey to his powerful "cousin", The Rock.

On the same weekend that Jey Uso will be taking on Gunther, WWE legend John Cena will be battling Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship. The former hero-turned-heel will be aligned with Uso's cousin, The Rock, as part of a dastardly duo. They have sworn to take home the gold, as Cena has seemingly made a deal with the devil.

The speculation that Uso himself might be headed for a heel turn against Gunther is tied to The Rock and his 'Final Boss' persona. There's some growing belief that The Great One may convince Jey to also sell his soul for success. Given his power and prominence with the promotion, it's easy to see why this makes sense.

Jey Uso has always been somewhat of a rebel, even during his loyal days as a member of The Bloodline. In what could be the ultimate swerve, he could forsake his former faction to side with Cena and The Rock. It would mean an instant career shift, as Uso has become one of the more popular stars that WWE has developed recently. But at the same time, several angles to this story make it a reasonable hypothesis.

The Travis Scott Connection: All the Signs That Make This Theory Believable

Uso And Scott Have Been Aligned in the Past

In the course of Cena's heel turn, an unlikely ally emerged. Musician Travis Scott - who contributed his song 'Fein' as the theme for WrestleMania 41 - has also turned heel. He was part of the attack on Rhodes at WWE Elimination Chamber, when he legitimately injured the American Nightmare with a blow to the head.

Crossovers between pop culture and WWE aren’t new but Travis Scott alongside The Rock and John Cena took it to a new level by attacking Cody Rhodes.

This, of course, drew the ire of the fan base, particularly when Scott was seen more as a mascot to some performers. However, he also has prior connections to Jey Uso. He has escorted The Main Event to the ring previously, and their tie-in could be the key clue about what will happen in Sin City.

There are other signs too. Cena and Jey were the last two contenders in the Royal Rumble match, and Cena lost in a somewhat anticlimactic fashion, being simply pushed off the edge and landing on his feet. Could this be a clue that John Cena actually let Jey win the Rumble, as part of a plot by The Rock to "own" both World Champions in the company? More signs point in that direction, too. When Rock showed up on NXT on January 7, he said that he is "Twenty steps ahead", and lo and behold, what number did Jey get at the Rumble? Twenty.

Another interesting connection to be made is between the reaction some fans had to Jey winning the Rumble and Cena turning on his lifetime fans, calling them "toxic". Jey's victory has been controversial, and some fans have been awful to him online, just like Cena said fans have been against him. It would surely make for compelling storytelling to find out that Jey, angry at the fans for turning on him, let the Rock sway him.

Will it happen? The odds may be unlikely to some. WWE has historically tried to end their biggest event of the year by sending the audience home happy. However, recent booking trends suggest that fans should start to expect the unexpected, particularly in light of Cena's shocking turn. Triple H has shown a knack for throwing the WWE Universe a curveball from time to time, and The Rock has enough clout that he could push for this to be WrestleMania's outcome.

While Uso has enjoyed the adulation of the audience, the old saying goes that blood is thicker than water. As Jey's older cousin and tribal elder, it would make sense that The Rock could persuade him to take the easy way out. Also, Gunther's growing popularity with the fans has led many to suggest it's time for him to become a babyface. A double turn could very well occur.

It might shock the world, but it would freshen up the roster and shake up storylines. Imagine what the rest of 2025 would look like if WWE ended WrestleMania 41 with The Rock literally in control of the souls of the company, its World Champion. It would be the beginning of a dark age, one that would give heroes new and old the chance to rise against the regime. So, in the end, it's not that crazy of a theory. Jey Uso may very well come out on top at WrestleMania 41, but he might not be the champion the fans were hoping for when it's all said and done.
