This New Promo Makes Dragon Ball Super's Future Look Promising
Dragon Ball Superhas been on hiatus for about a year, but the latest manga volume cover looks promising to say the least. Creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, passed away in March 2024 relatively unexpectedly, leaving his beloved series up in the air. While the world mourned his death, long-time Dragon Ball fans wondered what would happen to the rest of the series, as Toriyama was far from finished with Dragon Ball.
Luckily, Toriyama named a successor before his passing — a man named Toyotarou. Out of all the people Toriyama worked with, he said his style was most closely seen through Toyotarou's. Now that Toriyama is gone, it will be up to Toyotarou to carry the torch. If the latest manga volume cover is anything to go by, it looks like Dragon Ball Super is in good hands.
It's Been About A Year Since Creator Akira Toriyama's Passing
Other Than A One-Shot, Dragon Ball Super Hasn't Been Published Yet
Akira Toriyama is the creator behind one of the greatest anime series of all time, Dragon Ball. What started as a simple manga series expanded into something nobody could have ever seen coming. Dragon Ball fans can be found across the globe, and Toriyama's death was mourned similarly. Leaders of several countries mourned Toriyama publicly, and artists around the world celebrated all of Toriyama's creations.
Toriyama was heavily involved in Dragon Ball Super. He would give ideas to Toyotarou, who would then animate them, sending his designs to Toriyama for feedback. Toyotarou would then implement Toriyama's feedback, adding it to his designs, and finalizing his work by sending it to Shueisha for publishing.

Dragon Ball Super Artist Gives Fans First Update on Goten and Trunks in New Art
Toyotarou unveils stunning new artwork of Dragon Ball Super’s Trunks and Goten, showing what they are up to after the Super Hero arc.
Not everyone gets to name their successor. Toriyama's death is nothing less than tragic, but he was able to name a clear-cut successor after his passing, giving Dragon Ball a chance to live on. Toyotarou's addition to the series is like a fairy tale.
When Toyotarou was a kid, he would draw Dragon Ball characters every day, creating his own story lines for the series. He never thought that he would become affiliated with the series at all. When he submitted his drawings to Shueisha a little over a decade ago, he got the chance of a lifetime. Since then, he's been the main illustrator of Dragon Ball Super, bringing Toriyama's creations to life and gaining the practice needed to take over the series one day.
Dragon Ball Super Is In A Great Place Right Now
The Story Is Bringing Several Exciting Pieces Together At Once
Dragon Ball Super has never looked better. The most recent chapters that have been released outside the one-shot, Chapters 100-103, see a reunion of sorts. Vegeta and Goku were away from Earth when Cell Max attacked, so they never got to see Orange Piccolo or Gohan Beast. They heard about their fellow Z Fighters' power-ups and couldn't wait to see more.
Goku then brings Gohan, Goten, and Trunks to Beerus' Planet where Vegeta and Broly are waiting for them. Gohan then powers up to his Beast form and spars with his father, pushing even Goku to his limits. Gohan Beast is one of the few characters in the entire series to land a blow on Goku in his Perfected Ultra Instinct State, showing that even without the power of the gods, Gohan is one of the strongest characters in Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball Super’s New Chapter Just Proved Toyotaro Is the Best Choice to Keep the Franchise Going
Dragon Ball Super has been on a long hiatus, but its newest one-shot chapter is poof that Toyotarou is the right artist for the job going forward.
Broly's reintroduction to the series is exciting. His old character was an exceptional villain, and he somehow looks even better as a soft-spoken hero. His sparring sessions with Vegeta and Gohan bring the best out of his character, showing that he's a patient young fighter with a lot to learn and a lot of potential to back it up. With his fellow Saiyans' help, Broly might just become the strongest mortal in the universe.
"You remember how much stronger Frieza was when he came back to Earth? What happens when he achieves a newer form?!" - Vegeta to Goku in Dragon Ball Super: Broly
There's one character Dragon Ball Super is still leaving on the table — Black Frieza. Frieza notoriously never trained. After his death, he trained for a mere four months and achieved Golden Frieza, a form that rivaled Goku and Vegeta's god forms.
He then found a Hyperbolic Time Chamber and trained for ten years, achieving the insanely strong Frieza Black form. His new form was strong enough to take down Ultra Ego Vegeta and Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku at the same time, showing that Frieza is a bigger threat than he's ever been.
The Latest Dragon Ball Super Volume Cover Looks Insane
Volume 24 Is Aptly Titled "Passing Down The Future"
The latest volume cover for Dragon Ball Super might be the best one yet. Volume 24 is named "Passing Down The Future". It's a perfect name for two reasons that might have something to do with each other. First, it could be about Goku and Vegeta training Gohan and Broly to master their beastly natures, allowing Goku and Vegeta to move on from their roles as Earth's (and the Universe's) mightiest protectors.
Second, it could be referring to Toriyama's passing, making a direct reference to Toyotarou now taking over the series. Either way, the cover looks incredible. It shows Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku, Ultra Ego Vegeta, Super Saiyan Broly, Gohan Beast, and Orange Piccolo looking ferocious. The volume covers for Dragon Ball Super have always looked great, but Volume 24 takes the fan's favorite characters and places them center stage looking war-ready.
Toyotarou Looks Like The Perfect Person To Carry On Toriyama's Will
Out Of All The People To Work With Toriyama, Toyotarou Was Named His Successor
Every anime fan around the world wishes Akira Toriyama was still around. He's the creator of one of the most influential pieces of media in existence. He was only 68-years-old when he passed away as well, and he had a lot more Dragon Ball stories that he wanted to tell. Toyotarou is now at the helm, and if the latest volume cover of Dragon Ball Super is anything to go by, the series looks like it'll be back to its best in no time at all.

Dragon Ball Super's Villains Aren't Really Villains, And That's Why They Mean So Much To Me
Dragon Ball is known for having the best villains in anime, and Dragon Ball Super's villains transcend what being a villain really is for the best.
Goku and Vegeta have finally achieved states that might be close to rivaling the gods themselves. Gohan has unlocked even more of his potential through a form even Beerus can hardly understand. Piccolo's boost finally puts the Namekian back among the strongest in the series.
Broly's base Super Saiyan form is enough to contend with Goku and Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue forms at the same time, showing that if he can master his rage, he might be the strongest of them all. Dragon Ball Super Volume Cover 24 "Passing Down The Future" is looking to bring all these forms and stories together, finally bringing Super back after an appropriate hiatus.
