Unannounced Tony Hawk Remaster Is In The Works, According To Pro Skater Tyshawn Jones

Another remaster of a classic Tony Hawk's Pro Skatergame could be in the works according to a source that will allegedly feature in the project. After years of hibernation, Activision surprised fans of the franchise by remaking both the original Pro Skater and its sequel, releasing it in 2020 to critical acclaim. Following such a successful return to the series, many have questioned why the publisher has yet to revisit the later installments, but it turns out that may finally be in the plan.

Speaking on The Breakfast Clubpodcast, per VGC, popular professional skater Tyshawn Jones claims he will feature in as-yet-unannounced Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remaster, but didn't specify which classic game Activision is revisiting. Jones, who appeared as himself in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020, also notes that the game is "about to come out." As with all reports of this nature, fans are cautioned to take the information with a grain of salt; rumors about another Pro Skater game have swirled for ages but Activision has yet to announce anything.

Jones Isn't The Only Person To Drop Hints

Jones's statements were enough to reignite the rumor mill regarding the Pro Skater franchise, but his comments aren't the only hints that the series could return. Tony Hawk himself stated that despite Activision canceling plans for remasters of Pro Skater 3 and 4, he's since re-entered negotiations with the publisher. What that means for the reported project is open to interpretation, but Hawk did tease that the series does have a future.

Given Microsoft's ownership of Activision, there's the possibility that a remaster or remake of Pro Skater 3 or 4 could see a release directly onto Xbox Game Pass. If such a title exists, it would be a major win for the subscription service, especially if it can live up to the quality of Pro Skate 1+2. Until such a time as Activision provides concrete evidence that the franchise will return once again, fans will just have to hope the rumors end up being accurate.

I want to believe him: I adore Pro Skater, and the remake of the first two games blew all my expectations out of the water.
