So we’ve put together a plan to see Mussoorie the way we experience our treks at Indiahikes — in a deep, immersive way.

Unexplored Mussoorie shows you a side of the town beyond Mall Road, its heritage architecture, its tucked-away cafés, its forests, and its monasteries. It’s an experience that stays with you long after you’ve left.

This experience also marks the beginning of something new for us: UnExplored India. Here, exploration isn’t about seeing more places. It’s about seeing familiar places differently, through their history, heritage, culture, natural scenery, and food. Every UnExplored India experience is designed to reveal the real essence of a region.

What makes this different from a regular travel company?

Like a classic Indiahikes trek, you will have a knowledgeable Trip Leader with you, someone who will share the history, culture, heritage, and geography of the region.

Your food, as always with Indiahikes, will be thoughtfully curated and finger-licking good.

Your stay will be arranged at a space that we have hand-picked in the heart of the city.

Natural scenery and the outdoors will automatically be an integral part of the itinerary.

This particular group to Unexplored Mussoorie is our first pilot group. We’ve put a lot of thought into this 24-hour itinerary and recced it more thoroughly than our treks, since we’re venturing into new territory.

About UnExplored Mussoorie 

Mussoorie is loved by many, yet deeply known by few. Beyond Mall Road lies the Mussoorie that Ruskin Bond wrote about, quiet forests, old English homes, charming cafés, and a rich cultural legacy.

On this experience, we explore:

• The cozy corners of Landour: Char Dukan, the famous pancake shop, and St. Paul’s Church
• The heritage of Mussoorie: its 180-year-old library, old colonial homes, and iconic landmarks
• The rich flavours of Uttarakhand: A traditional Uttarakhandi feast featuring dishes like Mandwa Roti, Jangora Kheer, Pahadi Laal Chawal and Bhat ki Daal.

This one-day itinerary is best added to the end of your trek. You only need to extend your travel by a day to join us.

The UnExplored Mussoorie Itinerary

Day 1

6:00 pm — Report at Mussoorie (Location TBD)

One hour’s Guided Walk to Mall Road

Discover the central promenade of Mussoorie through its bustling shops, cafes and colonial architecture. 

Dinner is of your choice. We have intentionally not curated your dinner since you’ll want to have comfort food after your trek. We will guide you to the best places to eat.

Our hotel is within walking distance (within 1 km), so you can explore freely and return at your convenience.

7:00 am — Breakfast at the hotel

A simple, warm start before heading into Mussoorie’s quieter side.

8:00 am to 12:00 pm — Explore Landour

Walk the charming lanes of Landour: visit Char Dukan, the local pancake shop, and the historic St. Paul’s Church.

12:30 pm — Experience a Grand Uttarakhandi Feast

A traditional, slow-cooked Uttarakhandi meal, with delicacies like Mandwa ki Roti, Jangora (barnyard millet) Kheer, Pahadi Laal Chawal (red rice) and Bhat ki Daal.

2:00 pm — Visit the iconic Mussoorie Library

Step into a Raj-era library that has stood here since 1843, holding centuries of stories.

4:30 pm — Visit George Everest’s House

A landmark with sweeping views and a fascinating legacy. Take in the sunset from here.

6:00 pm — Drop-off at the designated point
