"We're Coming For You Again": Invincible Creator Reveals The 1 Actor Who Keeps Turning Down A Role

Invincible creator Robert Kirkman has revealed the one actor who keeps turning down a role in the superhero show, but who they're going to keep asking. The cast of Invinciblehas plenty of recognizable voices, such as Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson, Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson, and J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man. The show's other major character roster includes Gillian Jacobs as Eve, Walton Goggins as Cecil, Ross Marquand as The Immortal and Rudy, and Grey Griffin as Monster Girl and Shrinking Rae. These are just some recognizable voices in the show's core cast.

The series also includes plenty of guest appearances and major roles for big Hollywood actors, many of whom are more recognized for their live-action roles. This includes Sterling K. Brown as Angstrom Levy, Seth Rogen as Allen the Alien, Jeffrey Donovan as Machine Head, Lance Reddick as Steve Erickson, and Ella Purnell as Jane. Invincible season 3 has continued this trend with guests like Simu Liu as Multi-Paul and Bokeem Woodbine as Director Radcliffe. However, there's one guest star the show has tried bringing on, but hasn't managed to convince yet.

Robert Kirkman Says 1 Breaking Bad Actor Keeps Turning Down A Role In Invincible

The Actor Has Been Approached 3 Times Now

Kirkman has confirmed that one actor best known for their role in Breaking Bad has turned down a role in Invincible, despite being asked multiple times. The cast of Invincible season 3 will see two alum from the crime drama in important roles, with Aaron Paul joining as Powerplex and Jonathan Banks arriving for an undisclosed role. This isn't the first time alum from the franchise have joined the show, either, with Rhea Seehorn, who played Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul, appearing as the Thraxan Andressa.

Speaking with DiscussingFilm, Kirkman revealed that Bryan Cranston is the only actor who keeps turning down a role in Invincible. While the series creator didn't explain which roles had been offered to the Breaking Bad alum, he confirmed they've asked him to join every season, but that he's turned them down each time. However, they still have roles in mind that he could play, with the creative not giving up on getting him for the superhero show. Check out what Kirkman had to say below:

Sometimes an actor is brought up for a role, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, never in a million years would have I thought of that.’ That’s when it’s really exciting. As far as dream casting goes, I think we offer Bryan Cranston a role every season. That has become our tradition, and his tradition is that he turns us down (laughs). But we’re coming for you again, Bryan, and we’ll see what happens next time. Fingers crossed! Literally, Bryan Cranston is the only actor that has turned us down.

What Bryan Cranston Turning Down Invincible Roles Means For The Show

Will He Ever Be Part Of The Series?

Cranston is no stranger to voice acting, portraying Po's biological father, Li Shan, in the Kung Fu Panda movies, alongside playing the Siberian tiger Vitaly in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted and Jim Gordan in Batman: Year One. However, his most well-known roles are live-action, like Walter White in Breaking Bad and Hal in Malcolm in the Middle. While this doesn't mean he'll never show up in Invincible, it does emphasize how his most well-known roles aren't in the realm of animation.

Invincible has already been renewed for season 4, offering another chance for Cranston to join the cast.
