What a Creep: You Won't Believe Which X-Men Character Charles Xavier Had an Affair With

The founder of the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier, has slowly tarnished his impressive legacy over the last several decades, through a series of unethical and disturbing actions. However, one thing that many fans seem to forget is that Xavier is also a total creep, proven by his unhealthy romantic attachment to students in several Marvel realities, like Jean Grey and Emma Frost.

Charles Xavier of Earth-616 recently broke free of Graymalkin Prison and is set to star in the upcoming X-Manhunt crossover, after being imprisoned for crimes against humanity and mutantkind. Still, he was a total scumbag years before his Krakoan sins ever happened.

Marvel's original Ultimate Universe saw Xavier have an affair with Emma Frost - while he was dating Mystique - who was his student at the time and nearly half his age. Not only is Mystique disgusted by him, but so is Magneto, and this is before Charles reveals that he also has a crush on his other student, Jean Grey. Gross.

Not Only Was She Much Younger, But He Cheated on Mystique

In Marvel's original Ultimate Universe, Professor Xavier is incredibly "moral," dedicated to nonviolence and creating peace between humanity and mutantkind, similar to his Earth-616 counterpart. However, Xavier - who formed the Brotherhood of Mutants in the Savage Land with Magneto before betraying his former friend to form the X-Men - was established to be much less saintly than his mainline variant, willing to use dubious skills like mind probing. This is not all that is dubious about Ultimate Xavier, seeing as in Ultimate X-Men Annual #2 it is confirmed that Charles had an affair with a significantly younger Emma Frost.

Frost was Xavier's student at school in Chicago, and while it can be assumed that they met at a university, it is still extremely unethical for a professor to date a student regardless of age, with the obvious power imbalance leading to potential abuse. Plus, Xavier had been in a long term relationship with Mystique at the time, who was absolutely furious over his affair. In fact, when Frost adopted a cat that destroyed Xavier's office, she jokingly named it "Mystique" since she also destroyed the Professor's room. Eventually, Frost left Xavier over his vigilantism, believing he was not peaceful enough, but it is still disturbing that Xavier would ever have dated Emma, with her leaving him instead of him realizing how predatory his actions had been.

Sadly, Xavier's relationship with Emma Frost isn't even the man's grossest romance. While it was only ever one-sided, Xavier admitted in both the Ultimate Universe and Earth- 616 that he has a major crush on Jean Grey. Not only is Jean another student of Charles', but she also was a minor when they first met in both realities, making Xavier into a literal predator, even if he never acted on his feelings. Shockingly, Xavier admitted his romantic feelings to Scott, who for some reason chose not to beat the Professor to a pulp...

The popular X-Men films have always made Xavier seem like a kindly caring man, when in reality his comic book variant is much more careless with his students, dating the young Emma Frost and admitting his attraction to an underage Jean Grey.
