What Happens To Jason Statham's Levon Cade After A Working Man In The Books

Warning: Major spoilers for A Working Man below!Jason Statham's Levon Cade lives to fight another day in A Working Man, but what happens to the character in the books? Statham's latest is an adaptation of Chuck Dixon's Levon Cade book series and involves his ex-military badass trying to rescue his boss's kidnapped daughter. The film reteams Statham and director David Ayer after their $162 million Beekeeper success, and it offers the same mix of bone-crunching action and tongue-in-cheek humor.

A Working Man is aiming to become another Jason Statham franchise too. The story ends on a happy note, with Levon having saved the kidnapped Jenny (Arianna Rivas) and then reuniting with his own daughter. The film does hint that the Russian gangsters he fights might regroup and seek revenge, though a potential sequel could just forget about that and start afresh. A Working Man makes many changes to the original novel Levon's Trade, with the ending of the source material being far more downbeat.

The Next Levon Cade Book After A Working Man Is Levon's Night: What The Plot Is

The sequel could give Jason Statham his very own Die Hard

In Levon's Trade, Cade has no personal connection to Jenny, who is revealed to have died the night she was kidnapped. Levon then goes on the run with his daughter Merry to escape the wrath of the powerful Russian gang he made enemies of, and the sequel novel Levon's Night finds the two hiding in a remote community in snowy Maine. Unluckily for them, a vicious crew of mercenaries arrives one night to recover a stolen cache of money hidden there - and they're willing to torture and kill to find it.

Levon's Night lacks the gritty simplicity of the first novel and the setup takes a little too long, but it's still a solid thriller. The bad guys are genuinely menacing, and the snowy setting gives it a unique feel. If a Working Man sequel does happen, I hope it does adapt Levon's Night. Not only does it have one of the best premises of the sequel novels, but it could finally give Statham his own Die Hard. Somehow, the veteran action star has never found himself in a Die Hard scenario and Levon's Night would allow that to happen.

Chuck Dixon's Levon Cade Books Include Many More Adventures For Jason Statham's Character

The Levon Cade series has 12 books... and counting

Sylvester Stallone acts as co-producer and co-writer on A Working Man, having long owned the rights to the Levon Cade saga. The star originally planned to turn the property into a TV series before reworking it as a starring vehicle for Statham. Assuming A Working Man is enough of a hit to warrant it, there's a lot of source material available for a follow-up. There are 12 books in Dixon's Levon Cade series, with the most recent being 2024's Levon's Scourge.

Sylvester Stallone previously worked with Jason Statham on The Expendables movies and the 2013 thriller Homefront.

The events of one book typically set up the next. For instance, Levon's Night ends with Levon and Merry on the run again, having taken off with the money the thieves tried to steal. The third story, Levon's Ride, sees the title character's truck and money being stolen, so he has to whip up hell to find them both. Book 4, Levon's Run, then sees him on the run again as law enforcement and criminals chase after him for the millions he's taken off with.

Unlike the book Levon's Trade, A Working Man doesn't close with Levon and Merry on the run...

Basically, trouble always seems to find Levon, no matter how well-meaning he might be. A Working Man doesn't close with Levon and Merry on the run, though, given the mess he created in the movie, he could very well decide that going into hiding is the safest course of action.
