The White Lotus season 3, episode 7 shows Lochlan expressing his desire to stay with Piper in Thailand, yet his reasoning why - and her lack of enthusiasm about the idea - raise questions. The ending of The White Lotus season 3, episode 7 sets up a massive finale for the show in which several of the biggest plot points will come crashing to a conclusion. With the mystery of The White Lotus season 3's victim still lingering over proceedings, many other plot points are promising a climactic ending beyond that.
More than any other group in the show, the Ratliff family has several ongoing storylines. Be it Timothy's visions of death in The White Lotus and the crimes they are connected to or the incestuous acts committed between Lochlan and Saxon, the show focuses on several themes via this one family. Where Piper is concerned, her theme is spirituality, with The White Lotus season 3, episode 7 showing her staying at a Thai monastery. Lochlan joins too, stating he wishes to take it further and stay the year alongside her, yet Piper does not seem overly pleased about this.

Firstly, it is worth exploring Lochlan's motivation for wanting to stay at the monastery with Piper for a year. He states that he really does not want to go back home, insisting that he loves how the head monk encouraged people not to give into their dark urges and not to make life worse for other people. Lochlan then states he does not wish to give into his own darker elements and make things worse for his family, hence wanting to stay at the monastery.

What Lochlan is talking about is his relationship with Saxon. The brothers have been shown to grow closer in The White Lotus season 3, though there have been constant undertones of incestuous feelings throughout. This culminated in The White Lotus season 3, episode 6, when the two engaged in sex acts together alongside Chloe. Lochlan wishes to stay in Thailand as he does not want to face what happened between him and Saxon, with the monastery acting as an escape for him.

After Lochlan tells Piper that he wants to stay with her, she seems overly disinterested in the idea and returns to her room. Ironically, the reason for their different reactions is similar. Lochlan wants to stay so he can avoid the rest of his family, and Piper wants Lochlan to go back home so she can do the same. Piper has long been shown to be different from her siblings and parents as she does not long for money, power, or respect, and treats others more kindly.
Lochlan is more similar to Piper but has been taken under Saxon's wing in The White Lotus season 3. Piper, therefore, wishes to get away from all of this noise and live a peaceful year at the monastery devoid of her family.
