WWE Just Reunited the Usos, With Massive Repercussions for WrestleMania

WWEfans were treated to a special surprise yesterday as The Usos reunited in tag team action during Monday Night Raw in Glasgow, Scotland, for the first time in well over a year, facing A-Town Down Under. Jey Uso, deep into the build up to his match against Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, tagged with his brother Jimmy and reminded everyone in attendance and watching live how incredible they are as a duo, and why they're one of the greatest tag teams to ever compete.

Gunther found his way into the mix following the match and a backstage altercation had The Ring General with his sights set on both Usos on the Road to WrestleMania. While fans online have complained about a lack of excitement and build towards the showdown, Jimmy Uso's involvement in the build to Jey Uso vs. Gunther adds an exciting new and deeply personal layer to Jey's plight.

The Usos Together Again in Scotland

One of the Best Tag Teams of All Time Reunited to the Fans' Delight

Prior to this week's Monday Night Raw from Scotland, WWE teased a tag team match featuring "Main Event" Jey Uso and a mystery partner vs. A-Town Down Under, the team of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. During his entrance, which electrified the Scottish crowd, it was revealed that Jey's brother, Jimmy Uso, was his mystery tag team partner.

The match, another tag team clinic by the Usos, saw the hits from the duo, complete with double elbow drops, a dive over the top rope from Jimmy, and their team finished, the "1D," applied to Theory for a Jey pin. The match ended with a "Yeet" celebration before Gunther arrived to attack Jey and Jimmy, setting the stage for additional confrontation between the brothers and the World Heavyweight Champion.

Jimmy's Involvement Could Make It Personal For Jey

Jimmy Smacked Gunther So Hard, I Jumped Out Of My Seat

Immediately following the match, Jimmy seemingly scolded Jey for his botched dive the week before, as well as another slip in the ring when attempting to deliver a spear to Gunther, telling Jey to get his head back in the game if he wanted to beat Gunther at WrestleMania 41. Jimmy reassures Jey that the Jey he needs to see is the Right Hand Man, the man who won the Royal Rumble, and tells him he needs to find his spark. Just after this conversation, Jimmy spots Gunther and challenges him to a match next week on Raw, which Gunther accepts, and after making an offhand remark about Jey's slipping, Jimmy smacks the taste out of Gunther's mouth.

This smack, and Jimmy's pep talk to Jey, added additional layers to the Jey Uso story, adding a raw element to the narrative to help make it more personal and real for Jey. Gunther, who undoubtedly will still be reeling from Jimmy's open-hand smack, will bring punishment and violence to the Uso Penitentiary, and give Jey another, more compelling reason to crush The Ring General.

Fan Reaction Levels - Warranted Or Silly?

Some Fans Think It's Lackluster, Others Are Staying the Course

Fan reaction to the build between Jey Uso and Gunther has been divided, with some fans lamenting that Jey's story is superficial and only based on his surprise Royal Rumble win. With a story not as compelling as the build between Cody Rhodes and John Cena, some fans say they think the match is lacking depth and substance and unworthy of a main event placement during WrestleMania 41.

Fans are quick to forget, however, that the entire dynamic of Jey Uso's story is one of redemption and plight, and that the build to whatever high level match he will be involved in will be filled with struggle, strife, and ultimately victory. Jey's story with Gunther is following the same trajectory, and with less than three weeks to the big dance, WWE is moving Jey's newest path into high gear.

Our Take on Jimmy Uso and the World Heavyweight Championship Match

It's Going To Be "Rocky IV" Levels of Triumph

The struggle of Jey Uso in his quest to win the World Heavyweight Championship is no different from his quest to remove himself from the abuse he suffered at the hands of Roman Reigns, or his ascension to main event status. It involved heartbreak, struggle, and pain, and the story with Gunther will be no different, especially with Jimmy Uso involved, which will add an entirely new dynamic to the build as he is forced, again, to watch his brother suffer before redemption is found.

Jey Uso and his character arc are many things, none of which are boring, and they give the viewers the same feeling they got watching Rocky Balboa and Ted Lasso: they want to see the deserving hero win. By inserting Jimmy into the build, Gunther will give Jey an even bigger reason to take his championship and avenge the Uso name, and will provide a more emotional impact for fans who want to see Jey truly becoming "Main Event." at WrestleMania 41.
