Yellowjackets Makes Lottie's Most Mysterious Visions From Season 1 Extremely Tragic
Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Yellowjackets season 3, episode 4, "12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis."The visions Lottie Matthews (Courtney Eaton) has in Yellowjackets season 1 are now tragic due to the character's fate in the present-day timeline. Visions are a significant part of teenage Lottie's story. When Yellowjackets season 1's ending reveals that Lottie is one of the survivors 25 years later, the adult version of the character (Simone Kessell) is gradually revealed to be experiencing visions as well. By the time Yellowjackets season 2 concludes, the visions are part of the reason Lottie becomes institutionalized.
InYellowjackets' past timeline, Lottie's visions are seen by many of the other survivors as a sign of her wisdom and strength. After Lottie stops having the visions, she declares that Natalie Scatorccio (Sophie Thatcher) should be the group's leader. In season 3, she is looking for someone who the wilderness can speak through as it once spoke through her. Lottie has her eyes on Travis Martinez (Kevin Alves) and Akilah (Nia Sondaya), who she believes have unique connections to the wilderness. Despite these efforts, Lottie is ultimately unable to prevent her own death more than two decades later.
Teen Lottie's Visions Of The Tunnel Were Foreshadowing Her Death All Along
She First Saw The Tunnel During Her Baptism
When Yellowjackets' Laura Lee (Jane Widdop) baptizes Lottie in season 1, Lottie has a vision of a tunnel. She sees a stag in the tunnel, and as she follows it and turns a corner, she ascends a set of stairs that take her to a large assortment of lit candles. Now, in season 3, Lottie's body is found in a tunnel and at the foot of stairs with candles on them. The resemblance between her vision and the location of her demise is unmistakable, making it clear that Lottie's tunnel vision was foreshadowing her death.

Yellowjackets Season 3: Why Lottie Stopped "Seeing Things" In The Wilderness
Teenage Lottie Matthews' visions shape the survivors' choices in the wilderness, but she no longer has visions in Yellowjackets season 3.
This is not the first time in the series that a vision has foreshadowed a major character's death. The death of adult Natalie (Juliette Lewis) in the season 2 finale was foreshadowed by a vision her teenage self has at the party in the show's first episode. She has a vision of teenage Misty Quigley (Samantha Hanratty), which teases that the adult Misty (Christina Ricci) will end up being the one who kills her. Teenage Lottie and Natalie's visions are now tragic given that they were hinting at how they would die years later.
Where Is The Tunnel & How Does It Connect To The Wilderness?
It May Connect To Taissa
In order to know where the tunnel is and how it connects to the wilderness, the characters first need to determine who killed Lottie. One possibility is that she was killed by Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress) as a sacrifice to ensure that Van Palmer's (Lauren Ambrose) cancer does not come back. There have already been several scenes featuring Taissa and candles this season, including when she lights one in front of Van, and when she goes to one outside a church after learning about the waiter passing away.
Van learned that her cancer is in remission.
Taissa may have placed the candles on the stairs as part of a ritual to kill Lottie in exchange for the wilderness extending Van's life. The more sinister half of Taissa, the one that takes over when she sleepwalks, may have been the one who made this decision. If this is the case, the tunnel could be a location that only the sleepwalking side of Taissa knows about. The Yellowjackets season 3 trailer shows Misty in the tunnel, so she will eventually find it, and learn the role that it played in Lottie's death.
