Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 3 Trailer: Jackie Warns That Retribution Is Coming
Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Yellowjackets season 3, episodes 1 & 2.
Yellowjackets season 3 releases a trailer teasing what to expect in season 3 and the other remaining episodes. The hit series has returned and continues to explore the past timeline, where the teens are stranded in the wilderness, and the 25-year-later timeline where the survivors continue to wrestle with their trauma. The Yellowjackets season 3, episode 2 ending sees teenage Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) and Melissa (Jenna Burgess) kissing while adult Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) is pursued by a mysterious stalker.
Now, Yellowjackets has released a trailer showcasing what's to come in episode 3 and beyond. Shauna sees a vision of the deceased Jackie (Ella Purnell), who ominously warns that retribution is coming, not only for what Shauna and the survivors did in the wilderness, but for what they have done since they returned. Elsewhere in the present-day timeline, Shauna's daughter, Callie (Sarah Desjardins), questions if her mother is a bad person, and Taissa (Tawny Cypress) is eating dirt again. In the past, teenage Lottie (Courtney Eaton) declares that the survivors can never go back home. Check out the trailer below:
What This Means For Yellowjackets Season 3
Lottie Creates New Conflict In The Past While A Stalker Remains At Large In The Present
The trailer confirms that Yellowjackets' season 3 premiere is only a small taste of this season's story. Lottie's declaration that the teenage survivors cannot go back and that they don't belong there anymore is the standout moment of the trailer. What Lottie says is reminiscent of Lost's John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) asserting that he and other characters were not meant to leave the Island, which led to a divide among the Oceanic Flight 815 plane crash survivors. Yellowjackets season 3 may see a divide between those who want to stay in the wilderness and those who want to escape.
A shot of a helicopter hints that rescue could be coming this season, although the helicopter may be part of the present-day timeline instead. The 25-years-later story is confirmed to see the situation with Shauna's mysterious stalker escalating, forcing her to turn to Misty (Christina Ricci) and Walter (Elijah Wood) for help. This storyline offers new character relationships to explore, especially now that adult Natalie (Juliette Lewis) is no longer there to share scenes with Misty. The stalker is not the only threat to Shauna, though, with Callie being more wary than ever of her mother.
Our Take On The Yellowjackets Season 3, Episode 3 Trailer
Long-Running Mysteries May Be Answered
Yellowjackets season 3, episode 3 is poised to amplify this season's tension. Out of all the teases about what is ahead, I am most intrigued by Taissa eating dirt again and Lottie trying to convince her peers that they are meant to stay in the wilderness. Between this shot of Taissa and the Man with No Eyes making a brief appearance in the season 3 premiere, this season may finally deliver answers about the long-running Taissa mysteries.
Getting more of Purnell in the show is most welcome, especially as a manifestation of Shauna's subconsciousness believing that she and the other survivors deserve their current suffering.
Adult Shauna still seeing Jackie indicates that she still needs to deal with her guilt and trauma for the role she played in her best friend's death. Getting more of Purnell in the show is most welcome, especially as a manifestation of Shauna's subconsciousness believing that she and the other survivors deserve their current suffering. As for the past, Lottie's declaration creates an enticing new conflict, especially after the peace established among the girls in the season 3 premiere. This storyline is made more complex by knowing Lottie is among those ultimately rescued in Yellowjackets.
