Alice In Borderland Season 3 Release Month Confirmed, First Images Promise “The Final Game” As Joker Card Haunts The Survivors
Alice in Borderland season 3 finally has a confirmed release window and the first official images of the hit sci-fi drama. Based on Haro Aso’s manga, the Netflix series follows Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), a disillusioned gamer, who teams up with skilled climber Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) as they navigate a mysterious parallel Tokyo where they compete in a series of deadly games to survive. However, just when it seemed like their ordeal was over, the appearance of a Joker card at the end of Alice in Borderland season 2 teased another game to come.
Now, Netflix has released the first images of Alice in Borderland'snext chapter, showing three figures standing on a rooftop overlooking a dystopian metropolis as a large Joker card hangs in the sky. The Game May Not Be Over
In Alice in Borderland, the suits of the playing cards define the nature of each game, and the completion of all face cards is supposed to ensure their freedom. The season 2 ending saw Arisu and the other survivors returning to the real world after a catastrophic meteorite explosion in Tokyo. Unlike the manga, as it seemed like their time in the Borderland was over, a single Joker card appeared, teasing an unexpected continuation of the deadly trials.
While the Joker in the manga acted as a Ferryman, guiding players between worlds, season 2’s Joker tease appears to diverge from the source material to potentially introduce an original Joker card game. If the Joker is the “final boss” of Borderland, this could mean that Arisu and the others are not entirely free yet. The show has proven to be one of the most popular Japanese live-action adaptations in recent years, so it's of no surprise Netflix is eager to expand the story with Alice in the Borderland season 3.
