Sister Wives: Christine Brown's Relationship With David Woolley Moved Too Quickly For Her Kids (They Didn't Have Time To Mourn Her Marriage To Patriarch Kody Brown)

The way the speed of Sister Wives star Christine Brown and David Woolley’s relationship is affecting her children is concerning. Christine was a part of a polygamous marriage with Kody Brown for almost 30 years. Christine married Kody in March 1994 and welcomed six children over the next several years. Christine’s oldest child with Kody, named Aspyn, was born in 1995. The former couple has four more daughters - Mykelti, Gwendlyn, Ysabel, and Truely — and one son, Paedon, who viewers have watched grow on Sister Wives.

Christine was the first to leave Kody, followed by his other wives, Janelle Brown and Meri Brown, leaving Kody with just Robyn Brown as his remaining wife. Christine’s life changed when she started using an online dating app and met David. Christine and David’s relationship timeline has met with a fair amount of criticism. David has been a dramatic improvement on Kody, with Christine catching up on a lifetime of love and affection from a partner. Still, at the same time, Christine’s children’s opinions don’t hold any merit or validity when it comes to her and David.

Christine's Relationship With David Moved Too Much Too Quickly

Christine Was Already Thinking Of Marrying Him When They Met

Christine moved to Utah to live with her youngest daughter Truly after announcing her decision to separate from Kody in November 2021. Christine had told Today in December 2022 that she wasn’t interested in beginning a new relationship, but she was surely open to finding love again since she believed that if there was a “love of her life” out there, she would sign right up. However, Christine did not think that she was feeling the energy for the situation just yet. “That would be great. But probably not yet. My energy’s not quite right for that situation,” Christine declared.

Interestingly, just a month later, Christine was on Instagram asking fans for dating advice as a 50-year-old woman. It took Christine just a few weeks to confirm that she was dating someone. She called the romance “wonderful and romantic and kind” and everything she was looking for, and gushed about how her mystery man was incredible with Truly. Christine was not ready to reveal the identity of her mystery man yet. However, Christine made her relationship with David Instagram official, a week later, in February 2023, and two months to get engaged to him, in April 2023.

“I’m not moving slow with David and he’s not either. We’re done. We’re it for each other. So why wait?”

It looked like Christine wanted to rush things and she also confessed that she liked the spontaneity David brought to the relationship. After getting engaged and announcing it in a shocking Instagram update, it was time for Christine to marry David. Christine should have spent time getting to know David, but she seemed too smitten by him to care. She thought he was the most loving and caring person she had ever met. Christine had only started discussing marriage within five weeks of meeting David. Christine and David were married in October 2023.

Christine Only Thought About Her Happiness When She Married David

Why Christine Turned Selfish After She Met David

Christine has been searching for happiness outside of her family for years. She yearned for a life that wasn’t dependent on Kody. While she is open about being happy with David, she also explored self-love and tried to find ways to find joy in things that don’t involve Kody. Christine has always had a strong desire to build her independence, but her ability to pursue it was limited while she was with Kody and the family. As Christine got her first taste of independence after marrying David, she realized she needed more than just a romantic connection or a new family.

Christine has made it clear that she doesn’t want anyone to perceive David in a negative light or think that he’s anything less than a great partner. She’s put in a lot of effort and dedication to create a fulfilling and joyful life, and the last thing she wants is for rumors or false assumptions to undermine the strong, positive relationship she has with him. After all the work she’s done to build this happiness, she feels it’s important to protect the integrity of her relationship and not allow outside opinions to affect their bond.

Christine’s children never really got the time to process the end of her marriage with Kody by the time she had already found herself a new husband. Things happened so quickly that Christine’s kids couldn’t help but feel like they were not provided the space to understand and adjust to their new family structure. They had the pressure to settle into this new family dynamic that Christine had subjected them to while also documenting their feelings on Sister Wives.

Sister Wives airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
